Substance Use & Medication Safety
Substance Use & Behavioral Addictions
Substance use and behavioral addictions often coexist with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma.
Treatment begins with understanding what the substance is helping regulate. Plans may include medication-assisted treatment, harm reduction strategies, psychotherapy collaboration, and functional interventions addressing sleep and stress.
Care is nonjudgmental and safety-focused.
Benzodiazepines & Controlled Substances
Medications such as Xanax, Ativan, and Klonopin carry long-term risks including tolerance, dependence, and cognitive impairment.
When used, they are prescribed conservatively, in limited quantities, and with structured monitoring. I do not assume long-term benzodiazepine prescriptions initiated elsewhere. When discontinuation is indicated, gradual tapering is used to minimize withdrawal symptoms.
